Cable Street and St George’s Town Hall
The studios are set within a listed building at the site of the battle of Cable Street.
In 1936, a violent confrontation took place between the police and local communities
who resisted a planned march through the East End by the British Union of Facists.
From Victorian times through to the 1950s, Cable Street had a reputation for cheap lodgings, brothels, drinking inns and opium dens! |
